This Privacy Policy explains how ThankAI ("we," "us," "our") handles information in connection with AirAudio for Windows (the "App"). For the thankai.net website and the Android app, see our main Privacy Policy.

Summary: The App runs on your own PC and streams its audio over your local network to speakers you choose. It has no accounts, no ads network, no analytics and no tracking. Your audio, speaker details and settings never leave your PC except to go to your own speakers. The only thing the App fetches from the internet is a small update-and-notice file from thankai.net.

01Information the App handles

Processed only on your PC and local network (never sent to us):

  • Your PC's audio. While you stream, the App captures the sound your PC is playing and sends it over your local network to the AirPlay and Google Cast speakers you select. It is sent only to those speakers and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted to us or anyone else.
  • Microphone — Auto sync only. If you run Auto sync, each speaker plays short test sweeps while the App listens through your PC's microphone for a few seconds to measure that speaker's delay. The recording is analysed in memory and discarded; only the resulting delay values (numbers of milliseconds) are saved on your PC. The microphone is never used at any other time.
  • Speaker discovery. The App finds speakers on your local network (their names, network addresses and models) so you can choose them. This stays on your PC.
  • Mac AirPlay passwords. If you stream to a Mac that has an AirPlay password, the password is stored on your PC encrypted with Windows' own data protection, which only your Windows account can unlock. It is never sent to us.
  • Settings. Speaker volumes, sync delays, connection choices, Auto sync measurements and the speakers you used last are kept in a settings file in your Windows profile (%APPDATA%\AirAudio).
  • Log file. The App keeps a log of its own activity in %LOCALAPPDATA%\AirAudio to help with troubleshooting. It includes speaker names and local network addresses, stays on your PC, and is only seen by us if you choose to send it.
  • Connection check and support report. The connection check looks at your PC's network connections, Windows network type, firewall rules for AirAudio, the names of installed security software, and whether your speakers answer. If you choose "Send report," it saves a text file on your Desktop with those results, your speakers' names, models and local addresses, your AirAudio settings (never passwords), recent problems and the App's log, and opens an email for you to attach it to. Nothing is sent unless you send that email yourself.

Update and notice check: when it starts, the App requests a small file from thankai.net so it can tell you when a new version is available or show a short notice about a known problem. The request does not include your audio, speakers, settings, an account or any identifier. As with any web request, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) receives your IP address and may keep the requested address and time in standard security logs. If the file can't be reached, the App carries on normally.

Promotions for our other apps: the App shows a small banner for our own apps (for example AirAudio for Android and AirVids). It is built into the App — no ad network is involved and nothing is tracked. Clicking it opens the app's Google Play page in your browser; the link carries a tag telling Google Play that the visit came from this App, and Google's privacy policy applies on Google Play.

The App does not use advertising networks, analytics, crash reporting, or any other service that collects data about you.

02What the App uses on your PC (and why)

  • Audio capture — to stream the sound your PC is playing.
  • Local network — to discover speakers and stream to them.
  • A Windows Firewall rule — the installer adds a rule that lets devices on your local network (only) reach the App, which AirPlay speakers need in order to keep in time. Uninstalling removes it.
  • Your PC's speaker volume — if "Mute this PC while streaming" is on, the App mutes your PC's own speakers while streaming and puts them back afterwards.
  • Microphone — only during an Auto sync you start (Section 1). Windows' microphone privacy settings apply.
  • Internet — only for the update-and-notice check, and to open links you click in your browser.

03Sharing

We do not receive personal information from the App, so we do not sell, rent or share it. Audio goes only to the speakers you choose on your own network.

04Data retention and deletion

Everything the App stores stays on your PC until you remove it. Uninstalling removes the App itself; to also remove your settings, measurements and log, delete the AirAudio folders in %APPDATA% and %LOCALAPPDATA%.

05Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). It does not collect personal information from anyone.

06Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights over your personal information. Because the App keeps its data only on your PC, you can exercise them directly by deleting it (Section 4). For anything relating to the website, contact info@ThankAI.net.

07Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. Changes take effect when posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
